STRAIGHT ANSWERS, BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Your questions.
Answered clearly.

A practical guide to planning, installing and caring for a private water supply.

Planning your supply

Is my site suitable for a borehole?

Suitability depends on geology, groundwater availability, access and the amount of water you need. A hydrogeological assessment reviews available evidence and helps you make an informed decision before drilling.

Can you guarantee finding water?

No. Ground conditions, sustainable yield and water quality cannot be guaranteed before drilling and testing. The assessment helps identify prospects and risks, and we explain the uncertainties in the proposal.

What does the hydrogeological survey involve?

It is a desktop study of available geological and groundwater information. It informs anticipated drilling conditions, potential yield, water quality and borehole design considerations.

How much does a complete system cost?

The cost depends on drilling depth and ground conditions, access, pump duty, storage, treatment, power and connection routes. We prepare a site-specific proposal and identify assumptions or provisional allowances.

How long does the project take?

Timing depends on the assessment, site requirements, drilling availability and equipment lead times. Your programme is discussed once the scope and logistics are understood.

Installation & operation

Do you handle the whole installation?

We coordinate the agreed scope from consultation and assessment through specialist drilling, pumps and controls, water analysis, treatment, commissioning and aftercare.

Who carries out the drilling?

Borehole drilling is undertaken by specialist drilling contractors. Antony coordinates the project and the wider water-system installation, with responsibilities set out in your proposal.

How much access and space do you need?

The rig, support equipment and working area depend on the borehole design and site. We review access widths, height restrictions, ground conditions and working space during planning.

Will my water be suitable for drinking?

Water quality varies. Laboratory analysis informs treatment requirements for the intended use. A drinking-water supply needs suitable treatment, commissioning and ongoing checks.

How is the amount of available water established?

Pumping tests assess borehole performance and inform sustainable operating rates. Laboratory analysis assesses water quality; it does not establish borehole yield.

Will I need storage tanks?

That depends on borehole yield and the pattern of demand. Storage can help balance a lower steady inflow against periods of higher use, particularly for irrigation.

Does the system need electricity?

Pumps, controls and some treatment equipment require power. We assess the supply requirements and discuss any additional electrical work as part of defining the installation.

Aftercare & existing supplies

How often should my system be serviced?

The schedule depends on the installed equipment, water quality and use. We review manufacturer requirements and agree a practical maintenance approach for your system.

Can you repair a system installed by someone else?

Get in touch with the equipment details, installation history and symptoms. We can investigate faults and advise on repairs, upgrades or further testing.

Can a borehole supply an irrigation system?

Yes, where the available yield and system design suit the demand. Storage and booster pumping may be needed to provide the flow and pressure required.
